Ken Hanna - Chairman
Ken has followed a prestigious financial career and retired as Chief Financial Officer of Cadbury plc last year. He now holds the positions of Chairman of Inchcape plc and Non-Executive Director of Tesco plc.
In developing this next stage of his career, Ken has been very keen to add his support to a worthy charity; so not only has Shooting Star CHASE selected Ken but Ken has selected us.
Ken lives in Kingston and is a keen sports follower. He plays golf and tennis. He is married to Paola and they have four children (two working and two at university).
John Mayne
John has spent over 20 years in investment banking, working for JP Morgan and now JP Morgan Cazenove where he looks after their Debt Capital Markets business as well as sitting on the Executive Committee of the bank.
His job includes advising clients – corporate and financial – on how and when to raise debt capital, as well as helping them to manage the associated risks. He is married with four children and is a graduate of Oxford University.
Katrina McNamara-Goodger
Katrina currently works in Children’s Services at the Department of Health; she was previously the Nursing Adviser within the Department.
Areas of responsibility include: child care; hospital services for children; neonatal nursing; paediatric intensive care; Surestart; child health; child protection; community children’s nursing including leading the implementation of the Diana CCNTs in England and the inspection of mother and baby units in prisons.
Katrina’s role works across the DH and works with other Government departments such as the Department for Education and Skills. She also has links with nursing colleagues within Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. She is leading on palliative care, and on the health input into the disabled children’s agenda and child protection.
She is a general and sick children’s nurse and a health visitor. Her previous posts were based in Merseyside and included Health Visitor, Nurse Specialist Child Health/School Health, Director of Nursing Support, Child Health Services Manager and Designated Nurse, Child Protection.
Toni Schwarz
Toni is Head of Pre Registration Programmes at Surrey University. She has worked as a children’s nurse for over 25 years, and has a wealth of experience in working with children and families with complex care needs.
Toni began working with CHASE over 5 years ago, linking the student nurses experience at CHASE to their university studies. She was invited to become a member of the Clinical Governance Board in 2004 and has also been a member of the Advisory group since this point.
Toni is currently continuing her own studies of her PhD in sociology and is completing some research with young people aged between 13-15 years old.
Tim Oliver
SST Trustee since January 2005. A qualified solicitor and now Chief Executive of Parabis Group, a multi-disciplinary professional services practice comprising lawyers, loss adjusters, health and safety experts and rehabilitation advisors.
He is an Elmbridge Borough Councillor, previously Vice Chairman of Trustees of The Shooting Star Trust, a member of the Board of Governors of Kingston University and a Governor of Shrewsbury House School.
Kevin Dewey
SST Trustee since July 2006. Kevin is non-executive director of various companies, management consultant and investor in start-up businesses. He has a background in marketing and successfully built a business in the packaging industry. Kevin is also Upper Warden of the Stationers and Newspaper Makers Livery Company and a past Chairman of The Stationers' Foundation.
Louise Clarke
In May 2006, Louise lost her 11-month old daughter to a genetic disease, spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and throughout the 3-month illness Louise and her partner were supported by Shooting Star.
Louise works for the National Childbirth Trust and also supports other parents whose children have SMA, through the Jennifer Trust; she joined the Board of Shooting Star as a Parent Trustee in 2008. Louise has a daughter, Alice, who was born in December 2006.
Anthony Marshall
Anthony qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Liverpool in 1966 before moving to London to work for BP. After 2 years working around Europe for an American conglomerate he returned to London to start a career in banking; initially in international commercial banking, then 10 years with an investment banking subsidiary of Swiss Bank Corporation and finally 12 years in private banking, where he became Finance Director and later Chief Operating Officer of EFG Private Bank.
Following early retirement at the end of 2001, he spent 18 months as a Regional Chairman for Tenon Group, an AIM- listed financial services company.
