Shooting Star CHASE are proud to be supported by the AlFayed Charitable Foundation. Ensuring that we are able to continue to make a difference to the children, teenagers and families who find themselves in the most unimaginable circumstances.
Karen Sugarman, Director of Specialist Fundraising: “The AlFayed Charitable Foundation has always been very accessible. We can ring them at any time and they will listen to us. They are so responsive, which really helps, especially when you are dealing with families in critical situations.
"Mr Al Fayed and his daughter Camilla, Patron of the charity, have always shown an absolute passion and support for the work we do. They have both taken time to understand our challenges that the families we support are facing on a daily basis. We love welcoming them both to our two hospices and they spend quality time meeting families, volunteers and staff.
"Thanks to the AlFayedCharitable Foundation, for many years we have had the most wonderful Christmas Tea Parties for the children hosted by Mr Al Fayed and Camilla. They have brought so much fun and special memories to the families. One family said that it was 'a day they will never forget' and they were so touched by the warmth of Mr Al Fayed and Camilla.
"The AlFayed Foundation has ensured not only sustainability, but safety too, with the knowledge that they have made such a fundamental difference to our work. Their compassion, commitment and passion for Shooting Star CHASE gives us all at the charity a great boost, knowing that we have this vital support."
Camilla nurse
We recruited the country’s first ever ‘Camilla nurse’ this year; a role generously supported by the AlFayed Charitable Foundation and in particular by our patron Camilla Al Fayed, after who the role is named.
Beverly Hollands, who was recruited in August, is a qualified nurse and will be an integral part of our growing Hospice at Home team. Since Beverley’s arrival, she has undergone a thorough and in-depth induction to our care service, taking on referrals and is leading a group of nurses to look at Nurse Prescribing for the future.
