Gifts in Wills

Make each day count with a gift in your Will

When life is short it is the quality of life and the enjoyment of the time left that becomes so precious.

We want every child’s life to be as full and happy as possible.

Once you have provided for loved ones please consider a gift in your Will to help children, teenagers and their families get the help they need to make the most of their time together.

Legacies help fund key services from specialist nurses caring for children in their own homes to bereavement counselling at our children’s hospices to help a parent come to terms with the loss of a much loved child.

Your gift, however large or small, would help us continue to support families in the future.

"As a member of the Community Care Team, I see first hand how valuable gifts in Wills are in helping me care for sick children like Millie-May, at home and in the community.

I help families cope with their child’s 24 hour care routine and am also there to support parents who may be struggling or brothers or sisters who can feel left out.”

Why make a Will

Making a Will is the best way to ensure your assets go to the people and causes closest to your heart. You are also able to minimise the tax you pay – gifts to charity are generally exempt from Inheritance Tax.

We recommend you use a solicitor to draft your Will. A solicitor will give you professional advice and hold a copy of your Will for safekeeping.

It is a good idea to review your Will regularly. You can make simple changes using a codicil, a separate document which must be witnessed and stored with your current Will. Unless the change you are making is very simple we recommend you consult your solicitor and consider having your Will redrafted.

The most popular ways to give to charity after providing for loved ones

  • Leave a gift of money
  • Leave a specific gift such as jewellery
