Rosemarie has been volunteering for Shooting Star Chase for over 12 years, providing complementary therapy at our Guildford hospice, Christopher’s.

“I have been privileged to get close to many of the families who visit the hospice and have learned much from their individual journeys. I have never failed to be impressed by their warmth, resilience and courage.”

“I offer Indian Head Massage to any family member – it could be a mum, dad or grandparent – who would like the chance to take time out from the stress and worry of caring for a poorly child and allow this relaxing form of seated massage to release some of their tension.

“I work on their neck, shoulders, scalp and face. The effect is often surprisingly profound and certainly has proved beneficial as it can revitalise as well as relax the body. Occasionally, I work on some of the children in our care, if that is felt appropriate and also on staff carers, if they can spare the time in their busy day.

“Through this work I have been privileged to get close to many of the families who visit the hospice and have learned much from their individual journeys. I have never failed to be impressed by their warmth, resilience and courage – that’s what makes it so rewarding to be a therapist at Christopher’s.”
