Simon is Head of Community Fundraising Development, leading the team who look after our vast army of fundraisers in the community.

“I moved from Financial Services and my priority was to make a genuine contribution to a worthwhile cause. I was conscious that there were charities which are the ‘go-to’ money giving, national causes, I wanted to work for a smaller but equally deserving charity.

“Whilst searching through all of the worthwhile charities Shooting Star Chase was the one that provoked the most emotion in me. Thinking of my little niece or my friends children and the impact of a diagnosis of a life-limiting condition would have on them as a family unit, made it was an easy decision to make.

“Visits to our hospices show the amazing work the staff do is both inspiring and motivating. My highlight so far was joining hospice staff on a siblings day at a theme park. Seeing the children, all who have brothers and sisters being helped by our services, interacting with each and having fun was an amazing experience.

“Three things that make it a great place to work are: having such an inspirational cause to motivate you; I have always lived in Surrey and London, working to supporting the people who need help the most in these areas means a huge amount and I work in the fundraising team at head office and the people who work there are great fun and real characters.”
