Fearless folk hot-footed it across scorching coals at Shooting Star Chase’s Fire Walk last week – raising a huge £18,500 and counting for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
79 brave souls came together at Loseley Park on Saturday (21st October), to overcome their fears – and storm Brian – to complete their challenge.
Participants were greeted by the awesome Twisted Bliss Fire Eaters, Gemma Evans and Bonnie-Charlotte Parker, who entertained with fire breathing and fire eating before being given an amusing briefing from Cliff Mann from Time 4 Change, who explained all aspects of fire safety and described what it would be like to literally walk on fire!
After the briefing, everyone stepped out into the field and witnessed Cliff and his team make the final preparations to the fire, including measuring the temperature, a sweltering 950F.
Cliff’s team then tested the course themselves by walking across it, before the 79 fire walkers individually took on the course.
After their efforts, the participants ere presented with their bespoke Shooting Star Chase Fire Walk 2017 medals by our amazing team of volunteers and feasted on stone baked pizzas, gourmet burgers, hot dogs and a well-deserved drink.
The event has raised £18,500 to date and this continues to rise towards our target of £30,000.
Kate Law, Challenge Events Fundraiser, said: “This year’s Fire Walk was another fantastic night and we are so proud of everyone who took part and helped on the day. There were some scared participants at the start of the challenge but once they made it across the coals you could see how ecstatic they were to have conquered their fears. The amazing fundraising efforts of everyone involved will help so much in making every moment count for the families we support – and with donations still making their way in our grand total will be even more impressive.”
