We currently have opportunities for a Band 5  Paediatric Nurse to join the Shooting Star Chase team at Shooting Star House, our CQC Outstanding rated children’s hospice based in Hampton

Location: Shooting Star House, Hampton
Salary:  £27,049-£33,730 plus unsocial payments (depending on qualifications and experience)
Hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week

About the role

An opportunity to “be the nurse you’ve always wanted to be”. Shooting Star Chase is a CQC Outstanding rated children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families across West London and Surrey. We currently have a vacancy for a compassionate Paediatric Nurse based at our Hampton Hospice.

If you are one year post qualification or newly qualified and have had a third year placement in a hospice setting this could also be the perfect job for you.

As a Shooting Star Chase Nurse you will have the opportunity to spend quality time with each child to allow you to provide holistic, personalised care. Many of our children and young people have very complex health needs enabling you to develop your clinical skills – especially in the area of technology dependency e.g. Long Term Ventilation. As well as providing hands on clinical care there is time for lots of fun – swimming in our hydrotherapy pool, facilitating arts and crafts, going on outings or helping children to relax in our multi-sensory room.

As well as using your current skill set to ensure children receive a first class care service, our Practice Education Team will tailor a bespoke programme of support for you and develop your competencies in the latest procedures within palliative care.

Shooting Star Chase has two purpose built hospices, Shooting Star House in Hampton and Christopher’s in Guildford plus a large Hospice at Home Team. You will be expected to participate in a rota to cover 24/7 365 days a year, working a reasonable share of weekends and public holidays.

We offer an enhanced remuneration package with additional unsocial hours payments. You can also continue your NHS pension contributions. We will also consider applications for part time working / job share.

What are you waiting for? Give us a call so that we can tell you all about our exciting services, or to arrange an informal visit call Dawn Baldock or Rebecca Whiting, Lead Nurses at Shooting Star House on 020 8783 2000.

Please note that appointment will be conditional subject to enhanced DBS clearance, Occupational Health clearance and satisfactory references
